Customer Canvas is a tool that allows you to have to build online variable and version template for BtoB and BtoC online portals.
Step Action
1. Select {Settings} and then select {Online Ordering}and then select {Variable Template} and then
select {Customer Canvas}
Field | Description |
Designs | View, edit, and add new designs which your customers will use as templates. You may import them from InDesign (.idml) or Photoshop (.psd) files or create from scratch in a template. |
Images | Manage the image bank of standard clipart, artwork, backgrounds, photos, logos, used by the customers when personalizing the templates. JPEG, PNG, AI, and SVG are supported. |
Fonts | Manipulate the list of fonts available both in the Template Editor and the Customers editors. You may import TrueType and OpenType fonts. |
Color Profiles | Add color profiles to make sure that the colors are correctly converted between CMYK and RGB. You may import ICC files as color profiles. |
Data Schemas | Create and manipulate data schemas - a formal description of a design structure that would allow for using the data-driven editor. |
Data Sets | Create data sets - data you may use along with the data-driven editor, for example, to provide users with a prefill option. |
Product Specifications | You may think of product specifications as configurations of your personalizable products used to associate a product in your eCommerce store with an editor and a specific design. |
Settings | Configure your account, manage team, set up integration, and more. |
Projects | Here you can find a history of all templates that have been added to your user's online cart (this does not always mean the user checked out with the product). You can also download the print files from here if needed. |
Creating a Design
A design is used to add to a template.
2. Select {Assets} and then select {Designs}
Click on New. You have 3 options:
Folder: This allows you to organize your designs in folders and subfolders e.g. Customer and Template type.
Design File: Create a new design from scratch
Import: This allows you to import an (IDNS)InDesign file and a Photoshop File.
3. Click on Folder and add a folder or you can add the new design to the root directory.
4. Click on Design File. If you would like to import an InDesign file or Photoshop file then select Import.
Then double click on the imported file and skip to section 11. Note an InDesign file must be saved as an
IDML file.
5. Enter a Name e.g. Business Card
6. Select a preset or if you do not see the one in the list that you would like you can select Custom. Presets
can be added, edited, and deleted from the Select {Settings} and then select {Size Presets}
7. Enter qty of Pages e.g. 2 sided then enter 2 pages
8. Add bleed or leave at 0 if you do not what a bleed. If you check off "Keep All Side The Same" as you
enter a value in any field, the other fields will automatically update.
9. Click on Create new

11. Additional pages can be added by clicking on the + (LH Side)
12. Additional Layers can be added by clicking on the + (LH Side) and then name the layer. If you would like to edit
the layer then right click and you can move the layer to a different page, rename, show/Hide, Lock/Unlock or
delete. (By default when you create a Design it will create a background, Main, and Foreground layer).

13. Name the page (RH Side) eg Front.
14. The page size can be modified from the drop-down or manually change the page size by entering the width
and/or height. The Orientation can be changed to Landscape or Portrait. If you would like to Constrain
proportions then click on the lock beside the size fields. If you would like this setting for all pages then click on the ellipse and
select Apply for all.
15. If you would like to add or edit the bleed, slide the toggle to the right on Bleed and enter the bleed values.
If you would like all the bleeds to be the same click on the Constrain proportions lock and then enter the value
in one of the cells. If you would like this setting for all pages then click on the ellipse and select Apply for all.
16. If you would like a background slide the slider to the right. Click on Color, then click on the box below and
select a color, you can also adjust the percentage with the slider to the right or add a percentage. If you
would like to add an Image select image and drag and drop the file. Supported files are JPEG, PNG, AI, and
SVG. If you would like this setting for all pages then click on the ellipse and select Apply for all.
17. At the top center you can undo and redo changes. Don't forget to save the changes as you go.
18. Click on Text and add First Last Name in the body and right click and rename Fist Last Name. Add the
remainder text:
Job Title
Phone
Fax
Website
Address1
Address2
If you keep the naming convention throughout all your designs you can reuse the Data Schemas.
19. Click on save
20. Right-click on the Design and add Schema = Select Business Card and save
Images

4. Click on Import and add any image that you would like to add to the folder.
Fonts
The uploaded or imported fonts are used in the Template Editor and the Customers editors. You may import TrueType and OpenType fonts.

Color Profile

2. Click on New. You have 2 options:
Folder: This allows you to organize your images in folders and subfolders.
Import: This allows you to import ICC files as color profiles.
Data Schemas
Data Schemas are a formal description of a design structure that would allow for using the data-driven editor. (BtoB templates). For example, if you would like to have users fill in their name, address, phone, email or select an image and drop downs then you would create these in the Data Schemas. If you create dropdowns you would use the Data Sets to add the data for selection.

2. Click on New. You have 3 options:

1. Select {Settings} and then select {Online Ordering} and then select {Variable Template} and then
select {Customer Canvas} and then select {Product Specifications}
2. Click on Create New.
