Creating a Designs file in Customer Canvas

A design is used to add to a template. 


Step  Action

  1. Select {Assets} and then select {Designs}

    Click on New. You have 3 options: 

    Folder: This allows you to organize your designs in folders and subfolders e.g. Customer and Template type.

    Design File: Create a new design from scratch

    Import: This allows you to import an (IDML) InDesign file or a (PSD) Photoshop File.

  2. Click on Folder and add a subfolder or you can add the new design to the root directory.
  3. Click on Design File.
  4. Enter a Name e.g. Business Card
  5. Select from presets the Business Card:3.5 in x 2".
  6. Select 2 Pages.

  7. Check the (Keep all sides the same check box) 

  8. Enter .125 for bleed

  9. Click on Create new

  10. It should look something like this:        
  11. Download the zip folder at the bottom of this article.
  12. On the right hand side set the Background toggle on.
  13. Click on Image below the Background toggle, and drag the "BusinessCard.pdf" from the zip folder into the Drag File Here area.
  14. Next click on the Text tool on the top left side (T) place it over the telephone number and click and drag the box to make it the same size. On the right hand side select the Lato Regular font, set the size to 6.25 pt and set the tracking to 40. (VA) Double click and enter the 555-555-5555. Place the text over the phone number by dragging it or using the up and down arrow and adjust the tracking.
  15. Next right click on the text and duplicate it. Drag it over the next number and type in 123-456-7800 and drag until they line up.
  16. Next add text for the email, website, address, and put them on top of the existing text. Use the horizontal and vertical tracking tool to line up the text.
  17. Next click on the Text tool on the top left side (T) place it over the First Last Name and click and drag the box to make it the same size. On the right hand side select the Lato Bold font, set the size to 12 pt. Use the center text tool to remove additional bounded text room left and right of the template content.
  18. Next click on the Text tool on the top left side (T) place it over the Job Title and click and drag the box to make it the same size. On the right hand side select the Lato Bold, set the size to 7.5 pt. Use the center text tool to remove additional bounded text room left and right of the template content. 
  19. Click on the drop down arrow by the Rectangle tool in the top left tool cluster. Select the Ellipse tool and click on the canvas and drag it to the size to create a circle over the image. If you hold down the shift key it will keep the circle in proportion. 
  20. With the Ellipse selected. Look to the right and under the Design tab click on the Fill section. Then click on the fill color and change the color to No Color. Next change the border to .0200 in.
  21. Next, click on the image tool and import the side info bar from the folder that you downloaded and resize to fit over the image on the background business card.
  22. It should look like this.
  23. Next, click on the down arrow by the image tool (Top Left) and select the Placeholder tool. Click and drag the box over the girl's photo. Then click in the middle and select the photo from the downloaded file folder.
  24. On the Left-Hand side click on background and then click on the eye to hide the image from the canvas. Note you are clicking on the eye for the object and not the layer.
  25. Next on the left side expand the Main layer, right-click the Ellipse, hover over Arrange in the menu and select Bring to Front.

  26. Next under Main Layer right click and rename the layer for the first number to Phone, 2nd number to Phone 2, Email to Email, Website to Website, 123 Street Address to Address, First Last Name to Name, and Job Title to Title/Position.

  27. Click on Save and close the file.

  28. Navigate to  {Assets} and then select {Designs} and then right-click on the business card you created and click Attach Schema

  29. Select the Business Card Schema

  30. Next, select {Product Specifications} and click on the Create new button located on the right.
  31. Enter Business card in the Name.
  32. From the Editor drop-down select Data Driven Editor and then click on select.
  33. Next, select the Design drop-down and select the design you just created (Business Card) and then click on the Select button.
  34. Click on the Save button.
  35. Next Click on the 3 ellipse on the right side of the template and then click on Test.
