THIRD PARTY SHIPPING
Third Party Shipping lets you bill shipping costs directly to a client's UPS or FedEx account at the time the label is created. It works through the Shippo integration and requires a one-time setup in both Shippo and the customer's record in DocketManager.
Step 1 - Shippo Setup

The first step is enabling UPS or FedEx inside your Shippo account. This is what gives DocketManager the ability to generate carrier labels and route billing to a third party.
When adding the carrier in Shippo, use your company's account number, not Shippo's shared rates, and not the client's account number. This ensures labels are issued under your account while the shipping cost is passed through to the client.
Step 2 - Add the Client's Shipping Account
CRM > Customers > New > Financial > Shipping Accounts
Once Shippo is configured, store each client's carrier account number on their Customer record in DocketManager. This is a one-time setup, once saved, the account will be available to select on any future order for that customer.
- Within a Customer's record, scroll down to Shipping Accounts in the Financial section
- Select a Carrier from the dropdown (UPS or FedEx)
- Enter the client's Account Number
- Click + to add additional carrier/account combinations if needed
- Click Save

Step 3 - Applying Third Party Billing on a Shipment
When creating a shipment on an order, select the client's saved shipping account to route the cost directly to them. The label still generates through your Shippo account, but the carrier bills the client, not you.
- From the Order, scroll to Shipments in the bottom right and click + to create a new shipment
- Fill out the required fields Learn More About Creating Shipments
- Click on the Saved Customer Shipping Accounts dropdown and make a selection
- Click on Get Rates
The Cost and Price fields will show $0.00, this confirms that the shipping charge is being billed directly to the client's carrier account and won't appear on your invoice to them.
