Question:

I set up an address as a Variant field in my Data Schema with line breaks. It looks fine in the editor, but on the proof and the downloaded proof PDF the whole address runs together on one line, and I can see code text in it. Why does this happen, and how do I fix it?

Answer:

Line breaks in Variant values have to be written as <br/>, with the forward slash.

If you type <br> without the slash, the editor still shows the line break. The proof renderer doesn't accept it, though, so the address comes out on one line and the <br> tag is printed as text.

How to fix it:

1. Go to Online Ordering > Variable Templates New > Data Schemas and open the Data Schema used by the template.
2. Find the Variant field (for example, Office Address).
3. In each Value, change every <br> to <br/>.
4. Save the Data Schema.
5. Open the product on the storefront, pick the variant, and go to the proof step. The address should now be split across lines with no code showing.

Incorrect: 123 Main Street<br>London, ON N6A 5P2

Correct:    123 Main Street<br/>London, ON N6A 5P2
