The Dashboard Sales info boxes display the order value, posted or unposted, for a specified time period. 

This differs from the sales report, which shows the value of posted orders for a specified time period. 

Example: 

The Dashboard Sales current month info box shows $69,104.60 in order sales.

The Sales Report shows $7329.70 (not including shipping or taxes) in posted sales for the current month. 

This value will match the Actual value displayed when you hover over the dot for the current month on the Dashboard Sales Graph.
